Movement Therapy Study with the MOTOmed muvi in Geriatrics
The main objective of this study was to investigate the effects of a 6-week intervention on health-related outcomes (body composition, hemodynamic and functional changes) in 24 individuals aged 65 years and older with multimorbidity.
The study was conducted using a product from the MOTOmed next generation line. The MOTOmed muvi was found to be ideally suited for the requirements of the study.

Low-volume cycling training improves body composition and functionality in older people with multimorbidity: a randomized controlled trial
Carballeira et al. 2021, Spain
The results show that a 20-minute movement therapy with the MOTOmed muvi, performed 3 days a week with low to moderate intensity, improved body composition and walking and balance performance in just 6 weeks in older adults with multimorbidity. Additionally, a positive effect on resting blood pressure was observed in men.
Intervention
- The intervention group participated in a 20-minute movement therapy session on the MOTOmed muvi, 3 days a week, for a total duration of 6 weeks, with intensity tailored to their comfort level.
- The control group did not engage in any training and continued with their usual activities.
Results
The experimental group showed improvements in various measures:
- Overall Performance-Oriented Mobility Assessment (POMA) score
- Overall Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB) score
- Muscle mass compared to fat mass
- Muscle mass to waist circumference ratio
- Weight to waist circumference ratio
