Prof. Mercé Jourdain, head of an intensive care unit at the hospital CHU Lille (North) explains that one in two men who are ventilated are overweight. Of all overweight Covid-19 patients, 85 % are ventilated. This was not taken into account in previous studies, but allows for more targeted treatment. Prof. Mercé Jourdain explains that 10 to 15 % of her patients are usually overweight. During the Corona Crisis, this proportion is 50 %.
